The Fourth Annual UHNW Institute Symposium, The Future of Family Wealth Advising: Positioning Your Firm for Success, will explore the delivery of Integrated Family Wealth Management (IFWM), and our new Multiphasic Service Model. There will be discussions on family needs and trends, strategic considerations for firms, options relating to the delivery of integrated solutions, new service delivery models — structure and implementation, considerations for outsourcing and establishing strategic alliances, storytelling from peers and plenty of networking and time to connect.

A free, optional, training session for Institute members on the Ten Domains of Family Wealth, will be held from 2-4 p.m. on November 13, prior to our Welcome Reception.

The Training and Symposium are available for members to attend either virtually or in-person.

Stacy Allred

Stacy Allred is a Managing Director and Head of Family Engagement and Governance at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management.

Most recently, Stacy was at First Republic in a similar role and previously spent twenty years with Merrill Private Wealth Management, founding the Merrill Center for Family Wealth™ during her time there. Earlier, she provided comprehensive financial planning and tax services to multigenerational family groups and executives for nine years with Ernst & Young.

Stacy has dedicated her career to walking alongside individuals and families to more effectively navigate the complexity and promise of wealth. Immersed in the facilitation of family meetings, her practice includes the application of family governance and decision-making, family dynamics, learning and development of the rising generation, philanthropy and transition planning.

Active in her community, Stacy volunteers in local public schools, teaching financial literacy to elementary school students. She also leads CHOICES workshops for middle school students—a program designed to decrease the high school dropout rate. Committed to advancing the Family Wealth field, she serves on the faculty of the UHNW Institute and teaches for the Investment & Wealth Institute®(CPWA®) program.

Stacy earned an M.S. in Taxation with distinction, from DePaul University, and an undergraduate degree in Accounting. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Personal Financial Specialist, Certified Public Accountant (California) and Certified Exit Planning Advisor®. Stacy is a member of Collaboration for Flourishing Families and the Purposeful Planning Institute and holds certificates in Family Business Advising and Family Wealth Advising through Family Firm Institute.

Andrea Ayres

Andrea is a partner and member of the family office leadership team at Brown Advisory. In her role, she helps client families and family offices to evaluate, structure and implement strategies to enhance their long-term financial goals. Andrea’s experience includes working in corporate finance at GE Capital and The Bank of New York, as well as founding and operating two family businesses.

Joe Calabrese

Joe Calabrese is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Key Wealth Management. He is responsible for overseeing the development, integrated delivery, and strategic development of a full range of financial planning, investment, fiduciary and banking capabilities for Key’s clients.

Joe has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He joined Key in 2016, and lends his knowledge and expertise to affluent individuals, families, business owners, and institutions.

Before joining Key, Joe held a wide range of executive roles including President and CEO of Geller Family Office Services, a New York based RIA and multi-family office; and President of Harris myCFO, which focused on serving clients with a net worth in excess of $100 million.

Joe graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a joint honors degree in Economics and Finance and holds a Chartered Accountant designation. Joe actively serves on the advisory board of The UHNW Institute and the Gaples Institute for Integrative Cardiology. He is a past President of the Goodman Theatre Board of Trustees in Chicago, and also served as Chairman of the board of overseers for Lewis College of Human Sciences of the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Joe has three children and resides in Bronxville, NY with his wife.

Kevin Casey

Kevin Casey serves as the Managing Director of Corporate Development & Strategy where he is responsible for supporting Pathstone’s continued growth through the execution of firm-level strategic initiatives.

Prior to Pathstone, Kevin worked as a member of Focus Financial Partners’ M&A & Relationship management team where his responsibilities spanned business development, deal execution and strategic advisement of a number of Focus’ member firms both domestically and internationally. He began his career in strategy consulting with Booz Allen Hamilton.

Kevin received his Master’s in Public Policy from The College of William & Mary and his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lafayette College.

Betsy Erickson

Betsy Erickson leads Arabella’s work with family and individual clients, supporting them to further their learning, collaboration, and philanthropic goals. During her 14 years at Arabella, Betsy has helped dozens of clients design and launch strategies and run grantmaking programs on issues ranging from conservation to experiential education. Betsy draws on her study and practical experience in systems and family dynamics to facilitate groups to make decisions and work together effectively. Applying her expertise in enabling learning and collaboration, Betsy has significant experience working with multi-generational families

Prior to joining Arabella, Betsy worked for eight years in the nonprofit sector with groups focused on cancer research. She provided independent consulting services to national and regional nonprofit organizations such as CureSearch National Childhood CancerFoundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. She helped these organizations develop corporate partnerships, garner support from family foundations and major donors, and establish and grow their workplace giving campaigns.

Betsy has a BA from Colgate University, where she graduated with honors in two programs: philosophy and religion, and art and art history. Betsy also completed a certificate program in human behavior and public policy at Harvard Kennedy School and a three-year postgraduate program at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family at Georgetown Family Center. Betsy is the faculty chair for the Social Impact and Philanthropy domain at the UHNW Institute and is a leader in the Institute’s DEI work. Betsy is also a member of the Purposeful Planning Institute, co-leading its family dynamics working group. Betsy resides in Alexandria, Virginia with her spouse and two daughters.

Kelly Lora Ewart

Kelly Lora Ewart is the Head of Marketing at the firm. In her role, she leads the firm’s marketing department and creates strategies to enhance the firm’s brand and position it for continued success.

Kelly joined Ballentine Partners in 2023 and brought with her 20+ years of leadership experience. Prior to joining Ballentine Partners, Kelly served as VP of Strategic Relationships at PURE Insurance and as an AVP of Sales and Marketing at W.R. Berkley Companies. She began her career at Chubb, where she spent 14 years growing from an Insurance Underwriter to AVP and Strategic Partnership Manager.

Kelly graduated from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She also completed an executive certificate program at the Latino Leadership Institute of the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Kelly is bilingual and is fluent in Spanish. She is also an advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and serves as a member of the UHNW Institute’s DEI Initiative.

Kelly lives in Sudbury, Massachusetts, with her husband and three children. In her spare time, she enjoys hosting holiday and family celebrations, mentoring young women, volunteering to support local businesses’ marketing efforts, learning to golf and attending youth soccer and little league baseball games.

Charles B. Grace III

Charlie Grace is a Managing Director, leading Family Enterprise Solutions at Cambridge Associates. Charlie joined Cambridge Associates in 2020. He advises multi-generation families on holistic wealth strategies, including establishing and assessing single family offices, instituting and refining investment programs, designing structures and governance for families and associated boards, and executing many other types of best-practice initiatives for families.

Jim Grubman

Dr. Jim Grubman is an internationally recognized consultant to families of wealth, family enterprises, and the wealth advisory industry. Dr. Grubman has been recognized with his collaborator Dr. Dennis Jaffe, with the Outstanding Contribution to Thought Leadership award by the Family Wealth Report. He is the author of the renowned book, Strangers in Paradise: How Families Adapt to Wealth Across Generations, and co-author of Wealth 3.0: The Future of Family Wealth Advising (with Dennis Jaffe and Kristin Keffeler) and Cross Cultures: How Global Families Navigate Change Across Generations (with Dennis Jaffe) along with multiple other articles, chapters, and white papers. Dr. Grubman is a leader in The UHNW Institute, an industry think tank, and holds Fellow status in the Family Firm Institute and the Purposeful Planning Institute as well as membership in STEP, an international trusts-and-estates organization. His practice, Family Wealth Consulting, is based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Wallace (Wally) Head

Relying on his background as an attorney and a CPA, Wally has advised families regarding all aspects of their wealth for over 40 years.

He has worked closely with family members and family office executives to develop, communicate and implement strategies that effectively managed family wealth and transferred it to future generations.

Throughout his career, Wally has held leadership positions in national accounting and financial services firms and non-profit organizations. He also has authored many articles and been a frequent speaker, panelist or moderator on a full range of wealth management topics.

Most recently, Wally moderated panels and breakout sessions for The Ultra High Net Worth Institute on topics that included:

  • Delivering integrated wealth management services to UHNW families
  • Preparing UHNW families and their family office staffs for a comprehensive IRS audit

Wally grew up on a farm, which he and his brother still operate and is owned by fourth and fifth generation family members. He received a B.A. degree from Westminster College, where he subsequently served as chair of its Board of Trustees, and M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Missouri.

Richard Joyner

Richard has over three decades of experience delivering comprehensive advisory services across investment management, estate and income tax planning and trust administration to families and entrepreneurs.

Prior to joining AlTi Tiedemann Global, Richard spent twenty years at Tolleson Wealth Management, where he led the strategy of the firm’s Private Wealth Management Group in his role as President. He also spent part of his career in public accounting, most recently as a partner at Ernst & Young. He is an alumnus of Wake Forest University where he studied accounting.

Richard has received numerous professional awards during his career including multiple recognitions by Barron’s Magazine. He is an Advisory Board Member of the Ultra High Net Worth Institute, a non-profit educating advisors and families.

Kristin Keffeler

Kristin Keffeler, MSM, MAPP is a thought leader and consultant at the forefront of a global shift in family wealth advising, known as Wealth 3.0. She works with affluent and enterprising families, rising gen, and the professionals who support them. As the Chief Learning Officer for the Johnson Financial Group, she specializes in human motivation and behavioral change, family dynamics, family governance, rising gen education and development, and intergenerational collaboration. In November 2022 she published her first book, The Myth of the Silver Spoon: Navigating Family Wealth & Creating an Impactful Life. In July 2023, she published the co-authored book Wealth 3.0: The Future of Family Wealth Advising with Drs. Jim Grubman and Dennis Jaffe.

Keffeler brings a multi-dimensional approach to her work. She earned an undergraduate degree human biology and chemistry, with an emphasis on human peak performance. She also holds a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Public Health from the University of Denver, and a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tom McCullough

Tom McCullough is co-founder, chairman and CEO of Northwood Family Office, the leading multi-family office in Canada. He is a frequent speaker on issues relevant to families of wealth and is the co-author of three books — Wealth of Wisdom: The Top 50 Questions Wealthy Families Ask, Wealth of Wisdom: Top Practices for Wealthy Families and Their Advisors, and Family Wealth Management: 7 Imperatives for Successful Investing. He is an adjunct professor and executive-in-residence at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Wealth Management, and a member of the board and faculty of the Ultra High Net Worth Institute. He was awarded ‘Best Individual Contribution to Thought Leadership in the Wealth Management Industry (North America)’ at the 2020 Family Wealth Report Awards.

Doris Meister

Doris Meister is a financial services CEO with deep expertise in strategy, business transformation, finance, investments, distribution and governance. She is known for her integrity and her transformational leadership skills. She has demonstrated the ability to create new and transform existing businesses, create high performing cultures and build high performing teams to drive profitable growth. She is a respected thought leader in her industry with the foresight to anticipate change and evolve her organizations to capitalize on it. She collaborates and influences stakeholders to build the alliances and consensus needed to succeed with large scale builds or transformations.

For the past twenty - five years, Doris led top tier wealth and investment management organizations. She just retired as Chairman and CEO of Wilmington Trust, a wholly owned affiliate of M&T Bank (NYSE:MTB) with $79 Billion in AUM and over $1 Billion in revenue. The Corporate Trust business is global while Wealth Management is US based, serving offshore and US clients. She led a total transformation of the Wealth and Investment business, including developing a multi segment strategy, shifting the culture, adding top tier multi-asset class investment strategies, planning and private banking capabilities, modernizing technology, upgrading talent and changing the operating model. During her tenure, revenues increased 40% and the pretax margin expanded by 15%. Known for her business acumen and strength in strategy, Doris was also a member of M&T Bank’s Executive team. She attended the Board meetings and served as the management liaison to the Board’s Trust and Investment Committee. She is setting up an advisory firm and is pursuing Board roles and advisory work.

Stephen Prostano

In a career spanning over three decades, Steve Prostano has distinguished himself as an innovator and thought leader in the wealth management, multi-family office and global financial services industries. He has designed and built leading global and national multi-family offices, asset management firms and has advised industry leaders and ultra-high-net-worth families and family offices throughout his career.

Prior to joining the Firm, Steve was the Head of Family Wealth Advisors, a division of Bank of the West Wealth Management, an affiliate of BNP Paribas, where he built the first global, multi-family office in the U.S. Additionally, he served on the Bank of the West’s Senior Management Committee. Steve is also the founder of The UHNW Institute, a nonprofit, independent “Think Tank” and publisher of exceptional thought leadership content for UHNW families, family offices, their advisors and the financial services industry.

Steve previously served as CEO of Silver Bridge, President of Atlantic Trust and a Global Partner of Amvescap, President of Chase Global Asset Management and Executive Vice President of the Private Clients Group of FleetBoston Financial. He also held senior positions with Mellon Bank and KPMG, where he began his career.

Steve is the recipient of several distinguished industry awards, including Family Wealth Report’s Leading Individual in the MFO Industry and Private Asset Magazine’s Outstanding Contributor to the Wealth Management Industry.

Michael Zeuner

Michael Zeuner has been serving wealthy families for more than two decades. As one of three managing partners of WE Family Offices, he oversees the firm’s US business strategy. Michael is a nationally recognized leader in the family office industry and has dedicated his professional career to empowering financially successful families to manage their wealth. Michael is a co-founder and a board member of the Ultra High Net Worth Institute, a non-profit think tank and learning exchange. In addition, Michael is a co-founder and a board member of the Institute for the Fiduciary Standard and serves as an independent director at Wren Investment Office, a UK-based multi-family office and a member firm of the global alliance formed by WE, Wren and MdF.

Prior to his role at WE Family Offices he served as senior executive partner of GenSpring Family Offices. In this capacity, he had responsibility for the leadership and management of GenSpring’s network of 10 family offices in the United States, that firm’s key advisory practices, and its delivery of a high-quality client experience. In addition, he was a member of the firm’s Operating Committee. Before joining GenSpring, Michael was managing director and global head of Wealth Solutions at JP Morgan Private Bank. As a member of the executive team, he had responsibility for strategic planning, branding, marketing and specialized advisory services (family governance, philanthropy and fine art wealth management) for the worldwide private bank.
