Virtual Roundtable Discussion – Understanding Family Enterprise Risk

Thursday, September 21, from 5 – 6:30 p.m. ET

In alignment with our September theme of Family-Owned Enterprises, join The UHNW Institute for our upcoming virtual roundtable discussion, Understanding Family Enterprise RiskIn Conversation with Linda Bourn and Natasha Pearl, Moderated by Angelique LeDoux. This program will feature Linda Bourn, family enterprise risk practice leader at Alliant Private Client and domain chair of the Risk Management Domain at The UHNW Institute and Natasha Pearl, CEO and founder at Aston Pearl and co-chair of the Family Office Steering Committee at The UHNW Institute. Angelique LeDoux, second-generation family enterprise member and managing editor of content for The UHNW Institute, will join the conversation to detail her own family’s scenario planning exercise using a “fire drill”.

The Family Enterprise Risk Index study of 145 family enterprises, surveyed risk management practices within the family, family enterprise and family office. The conversation will highlight how risk management concerns vary between family members and non-family (family enterprise executives), along with top five risk concerns of talent, succession, family conflict, cybersecurity and investment performance.

Because risk management is an essential component of infrastructure for family enterprises, the speakers will provide examples of strong and weak infrastructure. They will discuss the potential impact on wealth preservation.

Break-out groups will enable advisors to share their own experiences with clients when discussing risk, scenario planning such as ‘fire drills’ and to share success tactics for engaging clients in these discussions.

The discussion will conclude with potential actions that advisors can take to enable productive and beneficial discussions with clients about risk.

Members may register for the September roundtable on the portal here and access the complete Family Enterprise Risk Index in our Resource Library. If you are interested in learning more about joining The Institute, please do not hesitate to contact us
