Building Advisory Skills with Nontraditional Clients and their Families:
How to Approach LGBTQ+ Issues with Sensitivity and Courage
How comfortable are you helping clients who raise personal or family LGBTQ+ issues or have an LGBTQ+ connection? Would you like to build your awareness and skills to help this significant demographic of clients? How do nonbinary and nontraditional issues present themselves in each of the Ten Domains? What resources are available to guide you?
In honor of Pride Month, UHNWI is presenting the first part of a new educational series on LGBTQ+ and nonbinary family issues, led by its DEI Committee. The full series will have four parts over a period of months:
· Part I: Overview and panel discussion on the issues, skills, resources and challenges that arise in the normal course of the advising relationship with client families
Members, please join us Thursday, June 27 at 4pm ET for this first session. Register on the dedicated event page here.
· Part II: Focus on nontraditional and nonbinary issues that typically arise in the Wealth Creation and Stewardship cluster domains (Financial, Legal, Philanthropic and Risk)
· Part III: Focus on nontraditional and nonbinary issues that typically arise in the Cultivation of Family Capital domains (Governance, Leadership, Learning/Development, Family Dynamics and Health)
· Part IV: Advanced skills practice necessary for empathic, productive conversations with family members who may be struggling with LGBTQ+ issues in varying ways (practical techniques using roleplay and breakout group formats for common client scenarios).
