October Roundtable: Research from the Philanthropy and Social Impact domain to support practice, education, and training
This month, we invite you to join the Institute’s experts on October 24th at 4 p.m. ET for an insightful discussion with leaders from the Philanthropy and Social Impact domain. As Wealth 3.0 calls for deeper research and rigor in the evolving wealth management landscape, this session will explore key findings from two groundbreaking reports, offering rich analysis on the current state of the philanthropic advising sector and the barriers donors face in their giving journeys.
First, our expert panel will delve into the U.S. Philanthropic Advisors 2024: Professional Development, Practice, and Knowledge Gaps report by Daylight Advisors. This report is the world’s most comprehensive study of philanthropy advisors, setting the foundation to further professionalize the field, and enabling advisors and clients to better understand their needs and the resources available to them.
The panel will also discuss findings from a new report, Overcoming Psychological Barriers to Giving – NCEP, produced by Arabella Advisors, the National Center for Family Philanthropy, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Ideas42. This three-year study, based on interviews with over 75 UHNW families, identifies ten common barriers to giving and applies behavioral science research to offer strategies for overcoming them. The relevance of these barriers, and their overwhelming prevalence among UHNW families, extends beyond philanthropy into other domains of wealth management.
