Serving the Whole Client: A Conversation on Holistic Advisory of Modern Families
Don’t miss out on our last webinar of 2024, December 12 at 12 noon ET, Serving the Whole Client: A Conversation on Holistic Advisory of Modern Families. This will be part 2 of our 4-part webinar series for Building Advisory Skills with Today’s Modern (formally “nontraditional”) Clients and their Families.
As more Modern Families emerge among our client demographics it will be incumbent on advisors to shift gears on how they counsel and interact with these people; otherwise, there is a risk that they may migrate to more ‘user friendly’ advisors who express more explicit understanding of their unique issues
We find ourselves in the midst of a great wealth transfer with a projected $84.4 trillion projected to pass from the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers to younger and more diverse generations of family over the next two decades. Many from within this next generation represent more modern families, a term popularized by the ABC television series, that includes a range of families that look very different from traditional nuclear families. These modern families are headed by single, married and partnered people. They include LGBTQ people, individuals representing a variety of races and ethnicities and women taking greater control of the wealth. The diversity within these modern families is often deep and rich.
In order to effectively and fluently work with these modern families and support their long-term and holistic goals – across all the domains of family wealth – advisors have the opportunity to build their understanding and skill set. This session is designed to introduce the notion of the modern family with a focus on the LGBTQ community, introduce language and concepts that advisors should become familiar with, offer a series of real-world case studies and examples and leave participants with a set of competencies they may consider building on over time.
